FOIA - Bluegrass and Comedy
Join FOIA Comedy for a unique blend of humour and bluegrass music inspired by real government records.
American comedian Curtis Raye brings to life hilarious stories from public records, while an award-winning bluegrass band featuring Grammy-nominated artist Maddie Witler (from Grammy nominated Della Mae) and fiddler Kathleen Parks (Twisted Pine) provides the musical backdrop. Expect blazing banjo, fiddle, and mandolin tunes, along with a celebration of the right to know what’s happening in the world.
After 10 years of shows in New York, DC, Philly, and Los Angeles, we promise it’s hilarious, unique, and memorable. The jokes, sketches, and songs are inspired by real public documents acquired using freedom of information laws (FOIA).
To get an idea of what the show looks like, the group have produced a video which can be viewed here. Curtis says Bluegrass and public records have a lot in common. "Most public records are about criminals, public transit, and blaming other people for our problems." he recalls, "Most bluegrass songs are about criminals, trains, and blaming other people for our problems!"
