Maya De Vitry UK Headline Tour
Nashville based singer songwriter Maya de Vitry is performing a UK headline tour this April. The announcement comes after her recent visit supporting John Craigie across Europe, which included a stunning show at London’s Bush Hall.
To get a taste of what’s to come, Maya has also released a soulful and affecting acoustic performance video for ‘What The Moon Said’, which features Joel Timmons on guitar, who will be performing with Maya in April, and Ethan Jodziewicz on upright bass. The track was originally released on Adaptations, her first solo album which came out almost five years ago to the day. Watch the video here.
“I am so happy to be playing music on this side of the Atlantic again. I loved touring in this part of the world with my former band The Stray Birds, and it’s thrilling to show up here again in a new way, five years into my new musical chapter. There is so much love for songs and stories here.”
Throughout the tour, Maya will be performing songs from her three solo releases as well some fan favourites from her previous band, The Stray Birds.
She also recently released the Infinite EP, which is an especially intimate collection of five songs performed with astonishing depth and tenderness. Featuring Maya de Vitry (acoustic guitar, vocals), Joel Timmons (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, vocals), Hannah Delynn (vocals), and Ethan Jodziewicz (upright bass, fretless electric bass), it is a powerful 23 minute journey that invites listeners into the space of warmth and freedom that Maya so devotedly creates in her live show.
“I really think you can hear us listening to each other, discovering the emotional landscape of these songs together. I took some real time away from touring, and now that I’ve returned, I’m able to be a lot more present in pretty much every aspect - the performances, but also the traveling in between, and in conversations with people I meet each night. And for this recording, I think I was able to integrate that present feeling of the live show. For me, when I sing, I am just finding how to really drop deeply into each moment. There is this balance of losing myself completely, and somehow connecting completely - to my bandmates and also to whoever might find these recordings at any time in the future. It is an intense focus and intense letting go, all at the same time. I am so grateful to my bandmates for being willing to go there with me.”
Maya de Vitry’s depth as a songwriter and her ability to make any performance feel like the most intimate moment have set her apart as someone who possesses a unique talent.
The April tour will no doubt be a special run of shows where her hugely touching songs and stories will reach out to old fans and no doubt cement some new.
