I recently had the pleasure of attending Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Adelphi Theatre for the sensational show “Country Superstars,” featuring the incredibly talented cast of Sarah Jayne and Andy Crust. From start to finish, this two-hour spectacle was a masterclass in tribute performances, showcasing an impressive array of country music legends.
Sarah Jayne, in particular, stole the show with her phenomenal portrayal of Dolly Parton. Her voice was not only pitch-perfect but also captured the essence and charisma of the beloved icon. It’s clear that she has a deep understanding of the character, and her performance was nothing short of mesmerising. Its no wonder she had in endorsement live on UK TV from Tennessee Song Bird Dolly Parton herself.
Dolly Parton appearing on BBC’s The One Show said “I wish them the best and I appreciate them doing Dolly and Kenny so well for so long”.
Andy Crust’s performance as John Denver was equally outstanding—his energy and stage presence had the audience on their feet for the closing act one song “Take me home Country Roads” where Andy was joined by 13 years old Lucy Jayne, proving that he could indeed “bring the house down.”
What truly set “Country Superstars” apart from the rest was the cast’s ability to seamlessly embody 11 different characters in one night. The show features Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Billie Jo Spears, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Tammy Wynette, Garth Brooks, John Denver, Shania Twain and Glen Campbell, each performance was executed to the highest standards, leaving the audience in awe of their versatility and dedication. The attention to detail in their costumes and mannerisms was incredible, making each character feel authentic and engaging.
The production values were top-notch, with an amazing band that complemented the singers beautifully and digital stage sets that transported us through the colourful world of country music. One could easily envision this show gracing the West End stage on a long run, as it certainly possesses the charm and talent required for such a prestigious venue.
If I had one criticism, at a brisk two hours, I found myself wishing for more time to soak in the brilliance of Sarah Jayne and Andy’s performances. Their chemistry on stage is palpable, and it adds a layer of enjoyment that truly made the evening unforgettable. It’s no wonder that “Country Superstars” has become the most-watched touring Country Tribute Show in the UK. The Band were made up of Pedal Steel, Banjo, Bass, Acoustic Guitar, Lead Electric, Drums and Piano.
At the end of this show you discovered that there were just TWO impersonators all night covering all 11 Country Superstars which was just Phenomenal, and that they were a family of Husband, Wife and Daughter.
In conclusion, if you’re a fan of country music or simply appreciate talented performers, “Country Superstars” is an absolute must-see.
With its captivating performances and high production values, I wholeheartedly give it five stars!
