First Time Flyers Elevate Country Music with ‘Jump’ Single and UK Tour

Updated:

Country music enthusiasts, get ready to mark your calendars! The UK’s own First Time Flyers are gearing up to release their heartfelt new single ‘Jump’ on June 28th. But that’s not all – they’re also taking their vibrant energy on the road with the ‘Jump On Tour Part One’ this September.

‘Jump,’ crafted in the band’s North London creative hub, is a testament to diving headfirst into love, embracing the risks with open arms. Poppy, a member of the band, shares, “It’s a leap of faith into love, choosing to fall with all your heart.” This anthem celebrates the courage to love boldly and without regrets.

Drawing from the personal life of bandmate Vicki, ‘Jump’ is a narrative of self-discovery and embracing true love. Vicki recounts her transformative journey: “After ending a long-term engagement that left me unfulfilled, I found love where I least expected – with my now-fiancée. Despite the initial shock from my family, I’m overjoyed I followed my heart.” Their love story, set against the backdrop of Pride month, makes ‘Jump’ a powerful ode to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Jump – Music Video

The music video, set in a rustic barn at Champneys health resort, captures the essence of the song. Tim from the band recalls the adventurous shoot, “It had been raining the days prior to the shoot and to get to the barn we had to cross a muddy field. We got some strange looks from the guests at reception!

Vicki, who also mentors at musical theatre colleges, brought her students into the fold, featuring them in the video performing the ‘Jump’ dance routine. It’s a celebration of talent, both new and familiar, united by music.

Behind the scenes, band member Tim Prottey-Jones infused ‘Jump’ with an electrifying mix of influences, from Dasha’s ‘Austin’ to ‘Texas Hold Em.’ The result? A 2-minute and 10-second burst of pure, unadulterated energy.

Jake, the band’s guitarist and vocalist, reflects on the unique sound, “We weren’t really hearing UK Country acts adopting this sound so we thought let’s give it a go!”

And the excitement doesn’t stop with the single. First Time Flyers are also embarking on a three-date tour in September 2024, bringing their dynamic performance to fans across the UK. Here are the dates and venues for the ‘Jump On Tour Part One’:

  • September 10th: Birmingham, Hare & Hounds 2
  • September 13th: London, The Lower Third
  • September 18th: Manchester, Deaf Institute Lodge

In 2024 the band have already sold-out Nashville Sounds in the Round in Birmingham; their headline Nashville Meets London show at Pizza Express in March. They supported Jamie Lawson for four shows in April (London, Nottingham, Liverpool & Bristol). They headlined Country In the Afternoon Festival in London on May 19th and played the main stage at Buckle & Boots Festival. Still to come they have the Margate Country Festival in July, the British Country Music Festival in Blackpool on Aug 31st and the Small Town Big Festival in Bristol on Sept 7th.

“We just love playing live and can’t wait to get back on the road” says Poppy “hopefully people will have learnt the Jump dance routine by September so that will just add to the fun!”. The video is above – start learning those moves!
