Countdown to Country Bliss: Country on the Coast Festival is Almost Here!
The wait is almost over—Country on the Coast, one of the most talked-about music events of the year, is taking place on April 26th and 27th in Portsmouth, and this year’s festival is packed with entertainment that will leave you smiling long after the weekend is over.
With 35 talented artists performing across two fantastic indoor stages, there’s no shortage of incredible music to enjoy, rain or shine. From high-energy performances on the Main Stage to intimate acoustic sets on the Acoustic Stage, there’s something for everyone. Doors open at 12pm each day, so arrive early to soak in every moment of this two-day extravaganza.
Hannah Roper, the festival’s founder and artistic director, shared her excitement about what this event means for the local music scene: “It is nearly time for Portsmouth to showcase the array of incredible independent country artists the UK has to offer. Portsmouth has an incredible music scene, recently celebrated by the inaugural Portsmouth Music Awards, and it was always my mission to integrate country into that hence Country on the Coast Festival. I want to show the south coast how amazing UK country music is but also how important it is to support independent country artists from all over the world.”
Saturday Highlights:
Dive into the fun with line dancing workshops hosted by the fabulous The Country Roses—perfect for anyone looking to show off their moves or learn something new!
Main Stage artists include Two Ways Home, Thomas Kavanagh, Laketown and the two Paytons, Howie and Riley.
The day wraps up with a show-stopping headline performance by local artist Alan Finlan.
Sunday Highlights:
Don’t miss the Songwriters Round, proudly sponsored by @20musicroots, where talented songwriters share stories and songs in a uniquely intimate setting.
Main Stage artists include Buckle N Boots, Route 66, Diamonds and Whisky and Kier.
End the weekend on a high note with the incredible Col Lewis Allstars gracing the Main Stage.

Hannah and her team give alternative and rising singers and bands the opportunity to perform. There is a plethora of many live country subgenres performances, including the popular songwriter rounds session on Sunday morning.
I attended my first Country on the Coast in 2019 and quickly discovered what a well organised and unforgettable indoor festival experience it is featuring some of the best country artists from the UK and beyond.
