The Long Road Festival returns to Stanford Hall, Leicestershire from 27–30 August 2026, and alongside its sprawling lineup, headliners Emmylou Harris, Bailey Zimmerman and Maren Morris, family-friendly atmosphere and Americana spirit, one of its most beloved initiatives is back: the Homegrown Talent Contest.
Designed to spotlight emerging voices from across the UK and beyond, the contest has become a cornerstone of The Long Road’s commitment to nurturing new artists. For 2026, organisers are promising an even bigger platform, fresh opportunities and a judging panel packed with industry expertise.
A Sunday Showcase Hosted by Janet Devlin
This year’s competition will once again take place on Sunday at The Hitching Post, with singer-songwriter Janet Devlin returning as host. Shortlisted finalists will perform live in front of a panel of industry professionals, giving artists a rare chance to be heard by decision‑makers who can help shape their next steps.
Solo acts, duos and full bands are all encouraged to apply. The festival team is looking for exciting new voices ready to become part of The Long Road community, whether rooted in country, Americana, folk or the wider roots spectrum.
Key Dates for Artists
Applications opened on Thursday 2 July 2026, with the deadline set for 11:59pm on Sunday 19 July 2026. Successful applicants will be contacted during the week commencing Monday 27 July 2026.
What the Winner Receives
The prize package for 2026 is one of the strongest yet, offering both exposure and long‑term career support:
- A performance slot at The Long Road 2027
- One year’s CMA Membership (tier dependent on eligibility)
- A performance slot at the Snakefarm Label Showcase
- A PR consultation with WMA
For emerging artists, these opportunities represent a genuine springboard—connecting them with influential networks, industry mentors and new audiences.
A Festival Built on Community
The Long Road has always championed grassroots talent, and the Homegrown Talent Contest embodies that ethos. It’s a chance for festival‑goers to discover tomorrow’s headliners, and for artists to step onto a stage that has welcomed some of the biggest names in country and Americana.
Applications are now open, and the festival team is encouraging artists to take the leap.
