Colne Delta Blues and Americana Night with April Moon and Ma Polaine

The Colne Delta Blues and Americana Night returns to Brightlingsea on Friday 19 June with a bill celebrating original songwriting from both sides of the Atlantic. This month’s edition features Canadian duo April Moon alongside the atmospheric, genre‑blending Ma Polaine’s Great Decline.

April Moon bring their playful, prairie‑born mix of alt‑country, Americana, folk‑blues and pop, powered by two guitars, big harmonies and a kick drum fashioned from an old suitcase. Their new EP leans into their rootsy upbringing, while their life on the road in their campervan “The Clubhouse” adds a roaming troubadour spirit to their sound.

Ma Polaine offer a contrasting, mood‑rich set shaped by blues, jazz and country influences. Beth Packer’s emotive vocals and evocative lyrics pair with Clinton Hough’s understated guitar work to create a compelling blend of dark humour, raw beauty and noir‑tinged storytelling — a sound entirely their own.
