Originating from Alexander City, Alabama, Kashus Culpepper is a distinctive voice rising in modern country music, known for his soulful blend that weaves country, soul, blues, folk, and rock into a gritty, heartfelt sound. His journey began in church choirs and was notably shaped during his 2020 deployment with the U.S. Navy in Rota, Spain, where his impromptu performances at bonfires ignited his songwriting and set him on a path through the dive bars of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. His husky, sandpaper growl and compelling storytelling have quickly garnered attention, leading to sold-out headline shows and support slots for notable artists like Charles Wesley Godwin and Charley Crockett.

Recently signed to Big Loud Records, Culpepper has cemented his presence with impactful singles such as “After Me?” and “Who Hurt You,” and released his debut single “Out of My Mind” in 2024. Displaying an ability to push genre boundaries, his latest project is the “Apple Music Sessions” EP, a three-song collection featuring a jazzy cover of the Isley Brothers’ “Shout” alongside reimagined versions of his originals, including “Jenni” and “Out of My Mind.” This release highlights Culpepper’s versatility and willingness to explore new musical expressions within his Southern-rooted sound.

Kashus himself shared with fans: “D’Angelo’s live at the jazz cafe album was the first time I heard about this venue. Never thought I would’ve been able to make it to London to see a show there or hell even have a show there. But I’m happy to say that my first headline show in London will be March 9th 2027 at the Jazz Cafe in London.” This milestone underlines a significant moment in his expanding career—making his London headlining debut at a venue synonymous with intimate and iconic live music experiences.
