Lauren Claire Townley, Nat Hills, Ruby Wheeler, and Sam Butler come together for an intimate and captivating night at Hyde Park Book Club in Leeds. This gathering is more than a typical concert; it’s a songwriters’ round series headlined by some of the UK’s most promising country voices, each bringing their unique flavour to the stage. The event promises a blend of storytelling, distinctive sounds, and heartfelt performances, set within the warm atmosphere of this hip Leeds venue.
York-based Ruby Wheeler stands out with her blend of classic cowboy swagger and contemporary Americana, drawing on inspirations like Orville Peck and Kacey Musgraves. She has recently introduced herself as a recording artist with her debut single “Wyatt Wayne,” a twangy and clever story that showcases her evocative tone and western aesthetic. Ruby’s single “Not Your Girl,” further deepens her storytelling and musical style, marking her as a fresh voice with vintage soul in the UK country scene.
Joining Ruby is Manchester’s Lauren Claire Townley, whose sound marries Nashville’s rich storytelling traditions with an energetic, bold swagger. Her music travels effortlessly between country, pop, and rock, propelled by big choruses and distinct vocals crafted for festival crowds. Lauren has showcased her dynamic artistry in notable settings including the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix and Camp Bestival, and she continues to captivate fans with her playful, place-inspired lyrics and heartfelt narratives.
Nat Hills brings a rebellious, country-rock edge to the night, blending gritty storytelling with influences from Miranda Lambert and Avril Lavigne. Her debut EP Therapy In Session presents a raw and honest exploration of identity and resilience, making her a rising figure in the UK’s country-rock landscape. Known for her energetic tribute shows, Nat also adds a charismatic presence to the bill that complements the varied styles of her fellow performers.
Essex-born Sam Butler rounds out the evening with his Americana and country blend, rich with stories influenced by his diverse life experiences, including over a decade of Army service. His latest single “Borrowed Time” released in March 2026, highlights a raw and unfiltered approach to country music, resonating deeply with themes of love, loss, and perseverance.
Ruby Wheeler shared with fans: “I will be hosting a new gig series at Hyde Park Book Club starting January 2027. I’ll be joined by three brilliant fellow UK country artists in a songwriters round style – with each artist bringing a different flavour of country to the night.”
