The Dead South – 2026 Tour
Canadian folk-bluegrass ensemble The Dead South returns to the UK as part of their 2026 Tour, bringing their distinctive blend of traditional roots and contemporary storytelling to Plymouth.
Formed in 2012, the group is known for its spirited performances and a unique sound that pairs gritty, raw vocals with the rhythmic drive of bluegrass instrumentation. Fronted by Nate Hilts alongside Scott Pringle, Danny Kenyon, and Colton Crawford, their music merges the simplicity of folk with a lively edge that often carries a darkly comic tone, setting them apart in the modern folk and bluegrass scene.
Their latest studio album, Chains & Stakes, released in early 2024, continues this tradition with 13 tracks that weave storytelling, instrumental skill, and harmonious vocals into a compelling whole. Recorded in Mexico City and produced by Jimmy Nutt, the album reflects their ongoing evolution as artists who honour their roots while innovating within the genre.
Longtime fans will appreciate their witty narratives and energetic playing, which recall influences from traditional bluegrass and folk legends, yet resonate with contemporary issues and moods. For those who enjoy the likes of Old Crow Medicine Show or Trampled By Turtles, The Dead South offers a similarly infectious spirit and authenticity.
