Amanda Shires is an American singer-songwriter and fiddle player who was born on March 5, 1982 in Lubbock, Texas. She started playing the fiddle at the age of 10 and joined the Texas Playboys, the former backing band for Western swing legend Bob Wills, when she was 15.
She has released seven solo albums since 2005, including Take It Like a Man in 2022. She is also a founding member of the country music supergroup The Highwomen, along with Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris and Natalie Hemby.
She has performed and recorded with various artists, such as Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit, Devotchka, Chris Isaak and Todd Snider.
She won the Grammy Award for Best Americana Album with Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit for their 2017 album The Nashville Sound. She is married to Jason Isbell and they have one child together
