Carly Pearce was born on April 24, 1990, in Taylor Mill, Kentucky. She grew up in a musical family, as her grandfather was a bluegrass musician and her mother was a choir director. She moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2009 to further her career as a singer-songwriter. She struggled for several years, facing rejection and disappointment from various labels and producers.

The album also spawned the singles "Hide the Wine" and "Closer to You".
Pearce released her second album, Carly Pearce, in 2020, which was also produced by busbee. The album was dedicated to busbee's memory, as he passed away from brain cancer in 2019. The album featured collaborations with Lee Brice on "I Hope You're Happy Now", which became her second No. 1 hit on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and won her a Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance; and Michael Ray on "Finish Your Sentences", which chronicled their romance and marriage (they divorced in 2020). The album also included the singles "It Won't Always Be Like This" and "Next Girl".
Pearce is currently working on her fourth album, which is expected to be released in 2023. She has already shared the first single from the album, "What He Didn't Do", which is a powerful ballad about finding love after heartbreak.
