Chuck Prophet

Singer-Songwriter

Chuck Prophet is a genre-blending troubadour whose roots in country music run deep, even as his sound stretches across rock, folk, and Americana. Launching his solo career after his time with Green on Red, Prophet quickly became known for his razor-sharp songwriting, twang-laced guitar work, and a knack for capturing the grit and grace of everyday life. His early albums, including Brother Aldo and No Other Love, laid the foundation for a career that’s as unpredictable as it is enduring.

Over the years, Prophet has carved out a singular space in the alt-country landscape, drawing on the outlaw spirit of Waylon Jennings—whom he paid tribute to with Dreaming Waylon’s Dreams—while infusing his music with garage rock swagger and West Coast cool. Albums like Soap and Water and Bobby Fuller Died for Your Sins showcase his ability to balance biting wit with heartfelt storytelling, all delivered with a honky-tonk soul and a rebel’s heart.

wake the dead

His latest release, Wake The Dead (2024), is a bold collaboration with California Cumbia band ¿Qiensave?, born from a period of personal reckoning following a stage four lymphoma diagnosis. Fusing Latin rhythms with Prophet’s Americana grit, the album pulses with resilience, joy, and a fearless sense of reinvention—proof that even after decades in the game, Chuck Prophet is still finding new ways to move both feet and hearts.
