Corey Kent
Singer-Songwriter
Corey Kent is an American country music singer who rose to fame after participating in the eighth season of the reality TV show The Voice in 2016. He was born on June 21, 1994 in Bixby, Oklahoma and grew up listening to various genres of music, especially country and rock. He learned to play guitar at a young age and started writing songs when he was 11. He moved to Tennessee when he was 17 and signed a publishing deal with a music company.
However, his career took a downturn when he lost his publishing deal and had to move back to Texas. He worked for a pavement company owned by his wife’s family to support his family during the pandemic. He did not give up on his musical dreams and continued to perform in clubs and bars in Texas and Oklahoma. He also released two self-produced albums: Long Way (2016) and 21 (2021).
His breakthrough came when his single “Wild as Her” went viral on streaming platforms and caught the attention of RCA Records Nashville, who signed him in 2022. The song became a platinum hit and reached the top three on the Country Airplay chart. His major-label debut album, Blacktop (2023), featured another hit single “Something’s Gonna Kill Me” and received positive reviews from critics and fans. He also won several awards, including the CMA Award for New Artist of the Year and the CMT Award for Female Video of the Year for his duet with Carly Pearce, “Never Wanted to Be That Girl”. He was also inducted into the Grand Ole Opry by Terri Clark in 2022.
