Daniel Kimbro is a Grammy-nominated upright and electric bassist, celebrated for his versatility and deep connection to Appalachian music. Hailing from East Tennessee, Daniel grew up immersed in a rich musical environment, influenced by bluegrass, folk, and jazz. His early experiences performing with his family’s bluegrass band laid the foundation for his career, and he later honed his craft at the University of Tennessee, where he studied double bass and earned degrees in Strings Performance and Studio Music and Jazz. These formative years shaped his distinctive style, blending technical mastery with heartfelt storytelling.
Over the years, Daniel has collaborated with an impressive roster of artists, including Alison Krauss, Jerry Douglas, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and The Milk Carton Kids. As a member of the Jerry Douglas Band and The Earls of Leicester, Daniel has toured extensively, captivating audiences across the United States, Europe, and Japan.
