Daniel O’Donnell is an Irish singer and TV presenter who has been performing country and Irish folk music since the 1980s. He has sold over 10 million records worldwide and has a loyal fanbase across the globe. He is also a regular on Irish and British TV, hosting his own shows and appearing as a guest on various programmes.
He was born in Donegal, Ireland, in 1961 and grew up in a musical family. He started singing in his local church choir and joined a local band when he was 16. He began his solo career in 1983 and released his debut album in 1984. He then signed a major record deal and began to tour internationally, especially in Australia, Canada, and the US.
Some of his most successful albums include Follow Your Dream, The Last Waltz, Faith and Inspiration, and Songs of Inspiration. He has also recorded duets with other artists, such as Dolly Parton, Charley Pride, and Cliff Richard. He has won numerous awards and accolades, such as an honorary MBE by Queen Elizabeth II.
He is married to Majella McLennan, a singer from Tipperary, and they live in Donegal. He is a devout Catholic and a teetotaler. He is still active in the music industry and is working on a new album.
