Anna Dasha Novotny, known professionally as Dasha, is an American singer-songwriter who has made a significant impact on the country music scene. Born in 2000, in San Luis Obispo, California, Dasha's passion for music was evident from a young age. She began her journey performing at local coffee shops at the tender age of 10, and by 13, she had her first professional studio session, a birthday gift from her father that allowed her to record one of her original songs.
Dasha's musical style is a blend of pop and country, a genre she embraced fully with her breakout single "Austin." The song, released in November 2023, marked her first entry on the Billboard charts, peaking at number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 2024. It also enjoyed international success, charting within the top ten in several countries, including the United Kingdom. Her foray into country music was further solidified with a live performance of "Austin" at the 2024 CMT Awards in Austin, Texas.
Before her rise to fame, Dasha attended Belmont University but left due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. She then turned her focus to her music career, releasing her debut single "Don't Mean a Thing" through Famouz Records in April 2020. This was followed by a series of singles that led to her debut album "Dirty Blonde," released in January 2023. Her second album, "What Happens Now?" was released in February 2024 under Warner Records, showcasing her growth as an artist and her commitment to the country genre.
Dasha's talent and dedication have not gone unnoticed. Her unique voice and storytelling ability have earned her a place among the new generation of country artists. With her authentic sound and heartfelt lyrics, Dasha continues to captivate audiences and carve out her own niche in the music industry. Her journey from a young coffee shop performer to a chart-topping country artist is a testament to her hard work and passion for music.
