Deborah Parlor
Deborah Parlor
Deborah Parlor, a Dutch singer/songwriter, is a rebel at heart. She blazes a new trail in the world of Americana music, infusing the traditional Country genre with a modern edge. Her soulful and sometimes poppy approach even transports listeners to the good old west coast sound. Deborah's debut single, "Closing Time," co-written with Ed Struijlaart, garnered well-deserved recognition and found its place on several major Dutch radio stations. Enriching her music with live performances, she creates a traditional Americana sound, accompanied by a live band featuring mandolin and pedal steel, lending her songs an almost dreamy and magical quality. Deborah Parlor's charismatic stage presence, combined with her melancholic lyrics, makes her a compelling and unique free-spirited artist who continues to shine.
Following her debut, Deborah Parlor released the full EP titled "Dreaming Wide Awake". The lead song from this EP, also called "Dreaming Wide Awake," received significant airplay on Radio NPO5 and led to a successful support tour in the Netherlands. Renowned producer and songwriter JB Meijers (known for his work with Common Linnets and De Dijk) collaborated on the debut, and Deborah also wrote music alongside acclaimed musicians. Her voice, described as a modern Emmylou Harris, carries a blend of sensitivity and honesty. Deborah Parlor fearlessly explores her own journey, both personal and professional, while also reflecting on the choices and lives of others. Her music often delves into themes of love, friendship, and authenticity in a digital world where everything appears perfect.
Deborah's passion for music extends beyond the studio. She grew up listening to icons like Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks, and Alison Krauss. Her longing for authenticity and a romantic ideal of freedom shines through her work. Whether she's singing about three chords and the truth or breaking down the walls that confine her, Deborah Parlor's artistry resonates with those who appreciate heartfelt storytelling and a touch of rock attitude. With her vintage parlor guitar as a companion, she continues to captivate audiences, leaving an indelible mark on the Americana music scene.
