Derek Ryan is an Irish singer-songwriter renowned for his contributions to country and Irish music. Born on 24 August 1983 in Garryhill, County Carlow, Ireland, he began his musical journey at the age of twelve, performing with his brother Adrian as the Ryan Brothers. Raised in a family steeped in traditional Irish music, Derek’s father was a traditional singer, and he himself won two All-Ireland titles in both bodhrán and céilí drumming. His early exposure to music laid the foundation for his future career in the industry.
In 2001, Derek joined the Irish boy band D-Side, achieving notable success until the group’s disbandment in 2006. Following this, he embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album 'A Mother’s Son' in 2010. Over the years, he has produced several albums, with 'Long Shot Love' being his latest release in 2024. This album features 12 original tracks, including collaborations with the Kilfenora Céilí Band and Olivia Douglas.
