Golden Shoals is an Americana duo from Nashville, Tennessee, composed of Amy Alvey on fiddle and vocals, and Mark Kilianski on guitar and vocals. Their music blends traditional bluegrass and old-time influences with modern songwriting and experimentation. The duo met in Boston in 2013 and started performing as Hoot and Holler, releasing three albums under that name. In 2020, they changed their name to Golden Shoals, reflecting their evolution as artists and their connection to the natural world.
Their self-titled debut album as Golden Shoals was released in August 2020, featuring 12 original songs that showcase their diverse musical range and lyrical depth. The album was recorded live in a cabin in the woods, capturing the raw energy and intimacy of their live shows. The album received positive reviews from critics and fans alike, and established Golden Shoals as one of the most exciting and innovative acts in the Americana scene.
