Jonathan David "JD" McPherson, born on April 14, 1977, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist known for his retro sound. His music is deeply rooted in the rock and roll, rockabilly, and rhythm and blues of the 1950s, drawing inspiration from legends like Little Richard and Fats Domino, as well as diverse artists such as the Wu-Tang Clan and Led Zeppelin.
Growing up on a cattle ranch in rural southeastern Oklahoma, McPherson began playing the guitar at age 13 and was involved in various punk rock bands during high school. After studying visual arts and earning a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Tulsa, he worked as an art and technology teacher before pursuing music full-time. His debut album, "Signs & Signifiers," released in 2012, brought him critical acclaim and established him as a pivotal new voice in rock and roll.
