Katie Pruitt, from in Atlanta, Georgia, is a talented American singer-songwriter known for her powerful voice and poignant storytelling. Raised in a Catholic family, Pruitt's early exposure to music came through musical theatre and learning guitar from her mother. She honed her craft at open mic nights in Athens, Georgia, before moving to Nashville to attend Belmont University. There, she received the first annual Nashville Songwriting Scholarship from the BMI Foundation, which marked the beginning of her professional journey.
Pruitt's debut album, Expectations, released in 2020 by Rounder Records, garnered critical acclaim for its raw and honest exploration of themes such as mental health, toxic relationships, and her experiences as a member of the LGBTQ community. The album's standout tracks, including "Loving Her" and "Out of the Blue," showcased her ability to blend folk, rock, and country influences into a cohesive and emotionally resonant sound. Her work earned her a nomination for Emerging Act of the Year at the 2020 Americana Music Honors & Awards.
In 2024, Pruitt released her second album, Mantras, which continued to build on her reputation as a fearless and introspective songwriter. The album delves into themes of self-acceptance and personal growth, reflecting her journey from isolation to empowerment.
