Koe Wetzel, born Ropyr Madison Koe Wetzel in 1992, in Pittsburg, Texas, is a dynamic American singer-songwriter known for his unique blend of country and rock music. Growing up in a musical family, with his mother being a touring country singer, Wetzel was exposed to music from a young age. He first performed on stage at the age of six. Wetzel attended Tarleton State University, where he played football before deciding to pursue a career in music. His early work, including the self-released EP and album with his band "Koe Wetzel and Konvicts," quickly gained popularity among college students and young adults.
Wetzel's breakthrough came with the release of his album "Noise Complaint" in 2016, which solidified his reputation in the Texas music scene. Known for his rowdy and unapologetic style, Wetzel's music often features explicit lyrics and themes of rebellion, resonating with a wide audience. His subsequent albums, such as "Harold Saul High" and "Sellout," continued to build his fanbase, with the latter marking his debut under Columbia Records. His latest album, "9 Lives" was released in 2024. Wetzel's ability to fuse genres like country, rock, and grunge has earned him critical acclaim and commercial success, with several of his singles achieving Gold certification.
In addition to his recording success, Wetzel is also a powerhouse performer, known for his high-energy live shows that draw large crowds. He has headlined his own music festivals and toured extensively across North America, earning a spot on Pollstar's "Top Worldwide Tours" list in 2020 and 2021. Wetzel's influence extends beyond music; in 2023, he became a partner in opening a restaurant-bar and live music venue called Koe Wetzel's Riot Room in Fort Worth, Texas.
