Laura Cantrell is a country music artist who was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. She grew up listening to classic country songs and learned to play guitar and piano. She moved to New York City to attend Columbia University and became involved in the local roots music scene.

She released her first album, Not the Tremblin’ Kind, in 2000, which showcased her love for traditional country music and her talent as a songwriter. The album was praised by critics and fans, especially by John Peel, who called it his favorite record of the decade.

She has since released five more albums, each with a different flavor of country music, from bluegrass to honky-tonk to Americana. She has also worked with other country music artists such as They Might Be Giants, Amy Rigby, and Elvis Costello. Laura Cantrell is one of the most authentic and expressive voices in modern country music
