Midland is an American country music band formed in 2014 in Dripping Springs, Texas. The trio consists of Mark Wystrach (lead vocals, guitar), Jess Carson (guitar, vocals), and Cameron Duddy (bass guitar, vocals). Their musical style is known as neotraditional country, which blends classic country sounds with a modern twist. The band gained significant attention with their debut single "Drinkin' Problem," which became a hit and earned them two Grammy nominations. Since then, they have released several successful albums, including "On the Rocks," "Let It Roll," and "The Last Resort: Greetings From".
The members of Midland each bring unique backgrounds and experiences to the band. Mark Wystrach, the charismatic frontman, transitioned from a successful modeling and acting career to music. Jess Carson, the lead guitarist, grew up on a farm in Oregon and developed a deep appreciation for traditional country music from an early age. Cameron Duddy, the bassist, is also a renowned music video director who has worked with top artists like Bruno Mars. Their diverse talents and shared passion for country music have helped shape Midland's distinctive sound and dynamic stage presence.
Midland's journey began when the trio met at Cameron Duddy's wedding in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They bonded over their love for country music and decided to start a band. They recorded their first songs at the Sonic Ranch recording studio in El Paso, Texas, and quickly gained a following with their authentic and timeless artistry. Over the years, Midland has become known for their thick harmonies, sad melodies, and tart lyrics, earning them a dedicated fan base and critical acclaim.
