Old Crow Medicine Show is a band that has been making music since 1998, blending old-time, folk, bluegrass, and Americana styles with a rock & roll energy. They are known for their lively performances, original songs, and revival of traditional tunes. They have won several awards, including a Grammy for Best Folk Album in 2014.
The band was discovered by the legendary Doc Watson in 2000, when they were busking outside a pharmacy in Boone, North Carolina. He invited them to play at his MerleFest festival, where they impressed the audience and the critics. They soon moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where they became part of the vibrant music scene and met many influential artists.
The band has released nine studio albums, including their latest one, Volunteer, in 2018. Their most famous song is "Wagon Wheel", which they co-wrote with Bob Dylan and which became a platinum hit. They have also collaborated with other musicians, such as Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and Darius Rucker. They have performed at many prestigious venues and festivals, such as the Grand Ole Opry, A Prairie Home Companion, Newport Folk Festival, and Telluride Bluegrass Festival. They are widely regarded as one of the most influential and innovative bands in the Americana genre.
