Rissi Palmer, born in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, is a trailblazing country music artist celebrated for her soulful voice and groundbreaking contributions to the genre. Growing up in a musically diverse household, she was influenced by artists ranging from Patsy Cline to Chaka Khan. Her passion for music blossomed early, and by the age of 16, she was performing country music at fairs and competitions. Despite facing challenges as a Black woman in a predominantly white genre, Rissi remained steadfast in her commitment to country music, rejecting opportunities that didn’t align with her artistic vision.

In 2007, Rissi made history with her debut single, Country Girl, becoming the first Black woman in 20 years to chart on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Her self-titled debut album showcased her versatility and storytelling prowess, earning her critical acclaim. Over the years, she has independently released several projects, including the Back Porch Sessions EP and the acclaimed album Revival. Beyond her music, Rissi is a passionate advocate for underrepresented artists, hosting the Apple Music show Color Me Country Radio and establishing the Color Me Country Artist Grant Fund to support emerging artists of color.
