Tara MacLean, born on October 25, 1973, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, is a talented singer-songwriter known for her emotive voice and heartfelt lyrics. She began her musical journey at a young age, influenced by her family's musical background, including her stepfather, Marty Reno, a songwriter and guitarist. Tara's early life was marked by a dramatic event when she and her siblings were rescued from a house fire by Constable David Cheverie, who received the Cross of Valour for his bravery. This experience, among others, shaped her perspective and inspired her music.
Tara's career took off when she was discovered by Nettwerk Records while singing on a ferry between Victoria, British Columbia, and Salt Spring Island. She signed with Nettwerk Records in 1995 and released her debut album, "Silence," in 1996. The album received critical acclaim and helped establish her as a prominent figure in the Canadian music scene. Tara's success continued with the release of several solo albums and her participation in the JUNO-nominated band Shaye, alongside Kim Stockwood and Damhnait Doyle.
