Taylor McCall
Singer-Songwriter
Taylor McCall, a rising star in the country music scene, hails from Greenville, South Carolina. Born to a craftsman and a preacher’s daughter, McCall found solace in the outdoors, often splitting his time between the woods and Sunday services. His musical journey began at the tender age of seven when his grandfather gifted him his first guitar. Despite initially viewing music as a hobby, a series of life events, including the tragic burning down of his family home on the same day he received his guitar, deeply influenced his artistic path.
McCall's breakthrough came after he decided to leave Montana State University, where he was studying to become a fishing guide, to pursue music full-time. His debut album, Summer Heat (2017), was self-funded by selling his drifter boat, marking the start of his professional career. By 2018, McCall had signed a publishing deal with BMG, and his unique blend of country, folk, and rock began to garner attention. His follow up album, Black Powder Soul, released in 2021, further solidified his place in the industry, showcasing his deep, contemplative lyrics and haunting melodies.
Known for his introspective songwriting and soulful performances, McCall's music often explores themes of life, death, and redemption. His work is heavily influenced by his Southern roots and personal experiences, creating a sound that resonates with authenticity and emotional depth. Despite his rapid rise, McCall remains grounded, crediting his success to the support of his family and collaborators, including producer Sean McConnell. As he continues to evolve as an artist, Taylor McCall's journey is a testament to the power of following one's passion and the transformative nature of music.
