Texas Tornados are a UK-based country music duo that consists of Pete Stothard and Stuart Payne. They have been performing together since 2004, when they formed out of Stothard's long-standing dream of singing country music for a living. They have quickly become one of the most popular and sought-after bands on the UK country scene, with a loyal fan-base and a reputation for delivering energetic and entertaining shows.
Stothard is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the duo, as well as the founder and driving force behind the band. He grew up in a family of country music lovers and started line dancing at an early age. He became a well-known line dance instructor and demonstrator, travelling around the UK and abroad to teach and perform. He always had a passion for singing country music, and decided to pursue his dream by forming Texas Tornados with Payne.
Payne is the keyboardist, guitarist, vocalist and harmony singer of the duo, as well as a talented musician with a wealth of experience in the country music industry. He has played with many of the big names in country music, such as Circuit Judge, Sidewinder, and the Hooked On Country Sold On Sixties Theatre Show. He joined Texas Tornados in 2009, bringing his skills and expertise to the band.
The duo's music is a blend of modern and classic country, with influences from rock, pop, and Tex-Mex. They sing songs in both English and Spanish, covering hits from artists such as Garth Brooks, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Zac Brown Band, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, The Mavericks, Dwight Yoakam, Flaco Jiménez, Freddy Fender, and many more.
