Uncle Lucius

Country Rock Band

Uncle Lucius is a band from Austin, Texas, that plays a blend of classic rock, blues, soul, and country music. The band was formed in 2002 by singer and guitarist Kevin Galloway, who moved to Austin from east Texas to pursue his musical dreams. He was inspired by the likes of Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Townes Van Zandt, and wanted to create music that reflected the rich heritage and diversity of Texas. He was joined by bassist Hal Vorpahl, guitarist Mike Carpenter, and drummer Josh Greco, who shared his vision and passion. Later, they added keyboardist Jon Grossman to their lineup, who brought more depth and texture to their sound.

The band released four studio albums and one live album, and gained a loyal fan following for their diverse and groovy sound. They toured extensively across the country, playing at festivals such as South by Southwest, Austin City Limits, and Stagecoach. They also received critical acclaim and recognition from various media outlets, such as Rolling Stone, CMT, and Saving Country Music. Some of their popular songs include 'Keep The Wolves Away', 'Pocket Full of Misery', and 'Don't Own The Right'. Their song 'Keep The Wolves Away' became an anthem for many people, especially during the pandemic, as it tells the story of Galloway's father, who was severely injured in a chemical accident and struggled to provide for his family. The song has been certified platinum by the RIAA and has over 115 million views on YouTube.

The band announced their farewell tour in 2018, after 16 years of making music together. They played their final show at Gruene Hall, a historic dance hall in Texas, where they had performed many times before. The band members decided to pursue their own solo projects, but remained close friends and collaborators. Galloway released two solo albums, including Secondhand Starlight in 2022.

However, in late 2022, the band surprised their fans by announcing their reunion. They said that they felt the urge to make music together again, and that they had some new songs to share.
