Vandoliers
Alt-Country Band
Vandoliers is a Texas-based alternative country band that blends punk energy with Americana storytelling. Formed in 2015 by Jenni Rose, the band emerged from the ashes of her previous punk trio, The Phuss, and quickly developed a distinct sound that fuses country rock with cowpunk influences. Their debut album, Ameri-Kinda, was released in 2016, followed by The Native in 2017, recorded in the same studio where Willie Nelson made Red Headed Stranger. Over the years, Vandoliers have toured with acts like Reverend Horton Heat and Old 97’s, solidifying their reputation as a high-energy live band.
The band’s third album, Forever, was released in 2019 under Bloodshot Records, marking a new chapter in their career with extensive touring and collaborations. However, the pandemic disrupted their momentum, leading to the sale of Bloodshot Records and their departure from the label. In response, Vandoliers regrouped and self-released their fourth album, The Vandoliers, under their own label, Amerikinda Records. Their resilience and commitment to their craft were evident as they continued to tour, including performances alongside Flogging Molly.
In 2023, Vandoliers made headlines when they performed in dresses at a Tennessee show to protest the state’s anti-drag bill, an experience that played a pivotal role in Jenni Rose’s journey of self-acceptance. By 2025, Rose publicly came out as a trans woman, coinciding with the announcement of the band’s fifth studio album, Life Behind Bars. This album, produced by Grammy-winning Ted Hutt, delves into themes of addiction and gender dysphoria, marking their most personal work yet. Despite the heavier themes, Vandoliers maintain their signature exuberance, continuing to captivate audiences with their raw energy and heartfelt storytelling.
