William Prince

William Prince is a Canadian folk and country singer-songwriter based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was born in Selkirk, Manitoba in 1986, and grew up in Peguis First Nation, where his father Edward was a musician and preacher.
Prince started his musical career in 2012, and released his debut album Earthly Days in 2015. The album won the Juno Award for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year in 2017, and the song "Breathless" reached No. 22 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary charts in 2018. Prince's second album, Reliever, came out in 2020, and featured the song "The Spark", which won the 2020 SOCAN Songwriting Prize. Later that year, Prince released his third album, Gospel First Nation, a tribute to his father and his roots, which included original songs, traditional gospel songs, and songs written by his father.
In 2021, Prince won two Canadian Folk Music Awards for Contemporary Album of the Year and English Songwriter of the Year. He also performed at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, and at the Buffy Sainte-Marie tribute concert Buffy Sainte-Marie: Starwalker.
His fourth album, Stand in the Joy, was released in 2023, and showcased his soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics. Prince is widely regarded as one of the most talented and authentic artists in the Canadian music scene.
