Blending wit and jest with more serious topics—depression and hardships surrounding Wall’s rural community are common threads throughout Little Songs—Wall puts on a masterclass of making music that gives those who need it a chance to smile. The album’s title track lays the overarching theme out, clear as day: “You got to fill the big empty with little songs.”

“Originally I tried to imagine a song that Dolly Parton would write. Something accessible that possibly many would be able to relate to. The theme is about how so many of us feel held back by self doubt at times. This song addresses moving on from this and away from the controlling individuals who often instil the negative beliefs that can adversely affect our lives. I’d written this quite a while back but shelved it. Maybe some of those very same self doubts were creeping in at the time. So there you go. Time to move on!”
