Canada’s No1 Country Star Dean Brody To Play UK Gig

Updated:

Canadian music star Dean Brody says his UK show in London next month is “…the performance I’m most looking forward to in 2024”

The hit country music singer will play his first UK show on May 11, an intimate, acoustic show with a difference – and for a very special reason.

The gig at the Bishopsgate Institute will be in aid of the Meninadança charity which works with girls who are victims of sexual exploitation in Brazil, which he says is “a cause so close to my heart.”

The Bring Down the House singer has risen to become one of country music’s most successful artists, with 24 top ten singles including 8 number ones, 18 Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMAs) and 2 JUNOs. He currently holds the title of the most consumed Canadian country artist since 2020.

Last year Dean won the CCMA Award of Achievement as the recipient of the Gary Slaight Music Humanitarian Award, for his work with his Dean Brody Foundation.

Dean started the foundation to support the work of Meninadança, which began in 2011 after he and British journalist Matt Roper travelled to Brazil and saw for themselves the plight of young girls forced into child prostitution on the BR-116 highway.

Dean says: “I’m excited to visit London again and look forward to performing for my British fans.

“Country music has made some inroads into the music scene in the UK over the past decade so getting to meet my fans there and also perform to alsoraise money for a cause so close to my heart – it is the performance I’m most looking forward to in 2024.

“I also get to connect again with the Meninadança UK team. It’s hard to believe that the dream of starting a charity that helps the most vulnerable in Brazil has actually come to pass.

Meninadança works with over 500 girls a day in its five ‘Pink Houses’ along the BR-116, the motorway with the country’s highest incidence of child prostitution. The projects use dance and creative arts to reach girls aged 11-17, and show them their true value and potential.

“Traveling along the BR-116 in Brazil all those years ago with Matt Roper is something I’ll never forget. We saw how great the need was for someone to intervene on behalf of these children. I’m so grateful to all who have taken up this cause and given a voice to those who didn’t have one. The hope that has come to so many by the selfless teams on the ground in Brazil is truly remarkable and to be able to celebrate it – well that’s what May 11 is all about. I’ve no doubt that it will be a night to remember!

“I’ll never forget the places I saw and the people I met on those journeys up and down the BR-116. It changed my life forever. I look forward to meeting those who have helped so much in bringing hope to the girls and communities that Meninadança fights for.

“Come on out for some country music and stories and a night of celebration on May 11. I’m so looking forward to seeing all of you!”

Dean will also be bringing signed merchandise which attendees will get the chance to win on the night.
