UK-CMA to Host Songwriting Masterclass with Hayley Jensen

The newly formed UK Country Music Association (UK-CMA) has announced a standout event as part of its newly launched outreach programme: an in-person Songwriting Masterclass featuring celebrated Australian country music star Hayley Jensen, scheduled for 21st May 2025 from 10am. This event promises to offer a unique opportunity for UK-based songwriters to gain valuable insights from a globally renowned artist.

Hayley Jensen, known for her powerful vocals and skillful songwriting, will lead the session, sharing her expertise on crafting compelling lyrics and melodies. Attendees can expect to explore the art of storytelling in country music, learn about the creative process, and gain practical advice on honing their songwriting skills. With a career that has earned her critical acclaim and a loyal fan base, Jensen’s knowledge and experiences are certain to inspire and resonate with participants.

The workshop will take place in the Jennifer Blackwell Performance space at Birmingham Symphony Hall and the attendees will:

  • Gain insights into the recording artist writing process.
  • Gain an understanding of country music song structure, instrumentation and storytelling. 
  • Gain an appreciation of the benefits of co-writing and how to instigate co-writing sessions. 
  • Compare the different ways to create a demo recording of a song. 
  • Take part in practical exercises using example techniques described by Hayley.

The Songwriting Masterclass is the highlight of the UK-CMA’s outreach programme, reflecting its commitment to fostering talent and supporting the growth of the UK’s country music scene. Open to songwriters of all levels, the event provides a chance to refine skills, network with peers, and deepen an understanding of the artistry behind the genre. UK-CMA Upcoming Events

As a new organization, the UK-CMA has also lined up additional events to build its community and showcase its mission. An online Information Evening, open to all, on 31st March 2025 will introduce the association and its goals, while a Member Networking Event scheduled for 28th April 2025 aims to connect individuals within the UK’s country music industry. In the future, the UK-CMA will offer support on: Branding & Marketing, Music Production & Recording, Performance & Stagecraft and the business side of the industry.
