Guy Surtees, Rebecca Richards & Sammie Soravia Live at The Hi Tide, Porthcawl
The event titled “Guy Surtees, Rebecca Richards & Sammie Soravia Live at The Hi Tide, Porthcawl” promises an engaging afternoon of country music artistry, featuring some of the UK’s most heartfelt voices and songwriters. Taking place in the intimate setting of The Hi Tide’s Bayside Room, this gathering pairs the talents of Guy Surtees, Rebecca Richards, and Sammie Soravia for a writers round and country covers session that invites fans deep into the stories behind the songs.
Guy Surtees, a Coventry-born singer-songwriter, brings a soulful voice and diverse songwriting style that draws from decades of passion for country music, inspired early on by legends like Dwight Yoakam and more contemporary artists such as Chris Stapleton. Recently stepping into the spotlight as an original artist, he released his debut album “Long Time Coming” in May 2024, which reflects his journey and dedication to authentic storytelling within the British country scene.
Joining Guy is Rebecca Richards from Pontypool, South Wales, whose multi-instrumental talents and poetic songwriting infuse her sound with subtle shades of blues, rock, and folk, alongside her country roots. Her acclaimed 2024 EP “New Yesterdays” explores emotional themes with a gentle elegance, securing her recognition with radio airplay and awards that celebrate her heartfelt lyricism.
Sammie Soravia completes the trio, offering an emotive acoustic country experience shaped by her Welsh upbringing and international influences. Having honed her craft in Australia and emerged with sincere self-penned material, Sammie’s recent releases further establish her as a compelling voice in UK country music.
This event is presented by Coalfire Country and includes the Coalfire Band as well as other guest artists. Attendees will experience writer’s rounds, where artists share personal insights about their songs, and then join in for lively country covers—creating a warm, communal atmosphere both for avid fans and newcomers alike. The latter part of the afternoon showcases collaborative performances with The Wildflowers band, inviting sing-alongs and dancing.
