The Long Ryders stand as influential pioneers within the alternative country landscape, having formed in Los Angeles in 1981. The band deftly merges punk rock energy with country and folk sensibilities, crafting a sound distinguished by jangly guitars and rich harmonies reminiscent of The Byrds. Their debut album, Native Sons, released in 1984, melded 1960s garage rock and folk with country rock, earning critical acclaim and cementing their role within the Paisley Underground scene alongside peers like The Dream Syndicate and Rain Parade.
After a considerable hiatus, The Long Ryders reunited in 2016 and have since produced a series of albums including Psychedelic Country Soul in 2019 and September November in 2023. Their latest album, High Noon Hymns, released in March 2026, benefits from the production of Ed Stasium, acclaimed for work with The Ramones, and features guest contributions by Murry Hammond of The Old 97s and DJ Bonebrake of X. Continuing their enduring legacy, The Long Ryders maintain their vibrant live presence, bringing their passionate performances to audiences worldwide.
