CountryMusic.co.uk recently caught up with rising star Jessica Lynn who hits the UK on 5th July for the UK leg of her international tour.
You have been dubbed by press around the world as a “rocket force” and a “unique face and voice” in modern country music. How do you feel about that?
It is such a big compliment! In the beginning I had felt that being so different, a New York Italian with a rock n’ roll style, would be such a detriment to my country music career, but in the end, it was my greatest asset. I stayed strong on my values and on making the kind of music that I truly enjoy and it has taken me to places I never even dreamt of. I feel very blessed.
Jessica’s Message to UK Fans
Your debut album, Lone Rider, reached the #1 spot on Amazon Music in both the USA and UK, as well as the top 5 in all-genre listings. What was the inspiration behind this album and how did you celebrate its success?
The pandemic was actually the inspiration behind this album. What was supposed to be a 6 song EP, turned into “Lone Rider” when all my touring was cancelled and I was stuck at home. I was determined to make good use of the time and it was very emotional for me to see how well it was received being that it was such a special project for me at such a difficult time. It was really nice to celebrate at home with my family and closest friends.
You are known for your spectacle and quality of your live shows and TV specials in the USA. How do you prepare for such performances and what are some of the challenges you face?
The challenges I face are trying to always make the show bigger and better than before. I am constantly trying to come up with new and exciting ideas to bring people something different every time the band steps on stage. I would say that the biggest challenge of all is trying to bring all of my ideas to each stage where every layout is different and what we have access to is different. The dreaming is the easy part. 😊
You are coming back to the UK for a 7-show tour in July 2023. What are you most looking forward to about this tour and what can fans expect from your shows? What makes a great show for you?
I am SO excited to come back to the UK. We have worked really hard on this tour as it’s been 4 years in the making. I am most looking forward to seeing everyone in person I have been interacting with online for so long and seeing their reactions to the new music. The connection I am able to make with the audience is what makes a show “great” in my opinion.
Your songwriting goes far beyond the typical country themes and mixes social commentary with classic themes of love, fun and heartbreak. How do you come up with ideas for your songs and what is your writing process like?
Thanks so much! My inspiration always comes from life. All of my songs tell a story about something I’ve been through or something that has personally touched me. I don’t consciously come up with the ideas for the songs….they kind of just come to me. I usually just get a spark of an idea and then I sit down and complete the entire song, music, lyrics and all right away while the inspiration is fresh.
You have been involved in various charitable causes, such as animal rescue. Why are these causes important to you and how do you use your platform to raise awareness and funds for them?
I have always believed that giving back and using your platform for good are some of the most important things. I have a disabled rescue dog so being involved in the rescue community is really important to me because I am an animal lover and it is so important for us to take care of those that cannot speak for themselves. I also work a lot with different miliary and veterans organizations. I have the utmost respect for our soldiers and military because they have allowed us all to live free. I use social media to support my causes as well as various events I produce.
Thankyou so much for talking to us Jessica. We wish you every success for your international tour. Keep up to date with Jessica on social media here:
