Beyoncé has revealed the official album artwork for ‘Cowboy Carter‘ and has addressed the backlash over her venture into country music. The artwork was shared to mark the ten day countdown until the album’s release on March 29. Two singles have already been released – ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ and ’16 Carriages’.

“This album has been over five years in the making. It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed…and it was very clear that I wasn’t. But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive. It feels good to see how music can unite so many people around the world, while also amplifying the voices of some of the people who have dedicated so much of their lives educating on our musical history,” wrote Beyoncé in the post’s caption on her Instagram feed.

In other news, Dolly Parton seemingly let slip that Beyoncé has covered her hit song ‘Jolene’. Fans await the album release to see if it is included as one of the songs.

woman like me

Woman Like Me – Bronte Fall

After years of grinding through music industry blockades on free-thinking, hard-working women, not to mention universal, unrealistic female expectations, songwriter Teri Bracken—better known by her stage name Brontë Fall—decided it was time to set her record straight. “My song ‘Woman Like Me’ is a pushback on that entire narrative of homemaker/peacemaker,” she says.

Woman Like Me is a bluesy rocker appealing to anyone who has ever been asked to fit into a box. Marrying dark Americana with soulful, sultry singing and lyrics, the song puts her vocal talents in the spotlight backed by a tight band (Glide Magazine).

heavy air taynee lord

Heavy Air – Taynee Lord

New Single, “Heavy Air“, set for release on March 14, 2024, has an ambience around Taynee’s metaphor for someone getting anxiety. The song’s lyrics highlight feeling trapped because of someone else’s lies, which then stops you from being able to speak your own truth.

Among the clang of electric guitars Taynee Lord sits upon her vocal throne, producing a heady mix of anthemic hooks
and commanding lyrics. Prepare yourself for high octane country twang as Taynee Lord gives you music for sunsets and highways from Bristol to Nashville.

Down – Podge Lane

‘Down’ marks a tonal shift for Podge Lane as he expands on his alt-country leanings to include rock elements drawn from artists like The White Stripes and T-Rex. This release coincides with Podge’s UK ‘Sad But Tourable’ dates with stops in the legendary Green Note, Camden.

An artist renowned for redefining the alt-country genre, Podge Lane remains defiant against the forces that promise to knock him down. Revitalised, Lane injects his signature roots rock stylings with blistering, distorted vocals hinged against experimental electric guitar licks in “Down“.
